Mark Scearce on our CD featuring the music of Giovanni Gabrieli.  John Gordon Ross is the conductor and music director of the Western Piedmont Symphony in Hickory, N.C..  Dr. Daniel Kiser is Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C..  Dr. J. Mark Scearce is Director of the Music Department at North Carolina State University in Raleigh.  It also features organist Robert A. Smith on the Gabriel Kney of St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, Hickory, N.C., and the Aeolian Skinner of First Presbyterian Church, Morganton, N.C.

This recording is dedicated especially to the memory of Mr. Arnold Jacobs.   Your contributions to our awareness of art, beauty of sound, and knowledge of our craft will be remembered for many years to come as will your presence among us be missed.

This recording is also dedicated to the memory of our dear friend and colleague, Richard E. Norment III who passed from this life suddenly in March of 1999.  Richard plays on this recording but did not see its release.  Richard's extensive contributions to our state's cultural life were only overshadowed by his generous personality and wit.  We hope you and Gabe will break up sectionals long enough to look in from time to time, Richard.
